Hey, I'm Preet!
I am currently a senior undergrad Design student concentrating in Experience Design at Northeastern University, as well as pursuing a Master of Science in Experience Design. My passion for creative expression started when I was just 2 years old, using chalk to scribble on the walls of my house in India. I have explored all sorts of creative mediums ever since, including drawing, photography, sculpting, and digital, and I've grown to love each and every one! I have had the wonderful opportunity of working in creative/design roles throughout my high school and college experience, including the design lead of a press team at an international human rights program, the co-founder and lead of a computer graphics club at my old high school, the public relations and design director for a growing community of Sikhs at Northeastern, and a UX designer and Project Lead for a student-led design organization at my university.
I became particularly interested in design as it allowed me to utilize my creativity to not only express myself but also solve relevant problems for other people. Having worked at a refugee resettlement agency during my first year of college, I learned the importance of designing equitable and inclusive experiences, especially for communities that need it the most. These lessons inspired me to pursue user experience design, a process through which I can use my research and design skillset to not only understand the experiences of different groups of people, but actively work towards making them more meaningful and positive. I am confident that my skills, creativity, and adaptability will enable me to be an asset to any team and tackle any problem.
I grew up on a small farm in northern India, but my family moved to New Mexico when I was 8 years old. I am currently living in Boston for school. Some of my favorite things to do include going for hikes near the beautiful Sandia mountains in New Mexico, discovering new music to listen to, and expanding my very limited knowledge of Boston through walks with friends!
