Refugee Stories: A short film about the displacement of refugees around the world, composed almost entirely of custom illustrations and gifs. I was inspired by many of the stories told to me by refugee families that I have worked with in the past and wanted to create something to recognize their struggles.
Movement of Clay: A stop motion project featuring the movement of clay pieces and custom sound effects. This project required over a thousand images to complete, as well as a good understanding of the movement and acceleration. For many images, I used clone-stamping to remove the wires holding the clay in the air.
Lost Identity: A performative video about the experiences of Sikh immigrants in the United States, like myself and my brother, who cut their hair due to discrimination and personal safety. This was a very difficult piece to make because of its personal significance to me, but I am glad to have had an opportunity to share this important story with others.
SUM Video: Inspired by David Eagleman's book "SUM," which explores an afterlife in which we experience our life events in different orders, I created a montage of the many clips that I recorded throughout 4 months of my Movement and Time class and organized them by their inherent colors/feelings.
"Kola Kola" Lyric Video: A lyric video to the song "Koka Kola" by The Clash, representing both the song's words and the sounds through dynamic movement. I used text, color, scale, and timing to create to create a powerful and evocative visual composition that supported the tone of the song.
